About Continuum and Delia Marchbanks
Continuum is an independent publication of guides on home recording, mixing and mastering. It is written for people who make music in a spare room and want to understand the settings they use, not memorize presets.
An independent publication
This website started publishing under its current form in 2026. It has no connection with any studio, company or person who may have used this domain name in the past, it does not continue their work, and it does not speak for them. Nothing published here before 2026 has been kept or reused: every guide on the site was written for Continuum.
Continuum offers no services. There are no sessions to book, no mixing or mastering for hire, no contests and no giveaways. The site does not sell anything and is not run by a manufacturer or a store.
Who writes the guides
The guides are signed by Delia Marchbanks, who lives in Lawrence, Kansas. She spent years in radio post-production, cleaning up interviews, building spots and preparing programs for broadcast, and now teaches evening classes on recording at home at a community arts center.
Her classes are where most of these topics come from: the questions people bring about latency, untreated rooms, compressors that seem to do nothing, and mixes that sound fine on headphones and thin everywhere else. The guides are the long answers to those questions.
How the guides are written
- They explain how things work and give starting values with their units, so you can check them against your own setup.
- They do not judge or rank products. Brands and circuits are named only when a technique is known by that name, such as a bus compressor of the SSL type or an optical leveler.
- They are revised when something in them turns out to be unclear or wrong. If you spot an error, the contact form is the way to say so.
Start with any of the five topics: room and monitoring, computer and interface, compression, mixing and mastering.
